As many people take tours to see all the great ancient ruins and natural wonders and travel there, Mexico has one of the biggest tourist industries in the world. In Mexico, these are the most beautiful national parks.

In the central part of the state of Chiapas, Canyon del Sumidero National Park is located in southern Mexico. Sumidero Canyon was carved out as deep as 3,280 feet by the Grijalva River over millions of years and it is the centerpiece of the park. In 1980, Canyon del Sumidero National Park was created and in 1981 at the end of Sumidero Canyon, which made the river navigable by boats, a hydroelectric dam was built.

Visitors can often see the American Crocodile sunning itself along the banks and now tourism is big in Sumidero Canyon as tourists take speed boats up the river through the gorgeous canyon. Also there are lookout points along the road and hiking trails above the canyon.

About fifty miles northwest of the city of Chihuahua in the state of Chihuahua, Cumbres de Majalca National Park is located in north central Mexico. To showcase and protect fantastic rock formations that were shaped and created over time by water and wind, this Mexican national park was created in 1939.

In the state of Baja California, Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park is located in northwestern Mexico. Which consists of pine tree forests, deep canyons and majestic granite peaks, the park is named for the beautiful Sierra de San Pedro Martir mountain range.

The highest mountain peak in Baja California at 10,160 feet, Devil's Peak or Picacho del Diablo is the highest mountain in Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park.

In the western part of the state of Chihuahua, Basaseachic Falls National Park is located in northern Mexico. Carved out by the river for thousands of years, the park is named for the spectacular Basaseachic Falls which drops 853 feet along the Basaseachic River over a granite cliff and into Candamena Canyon.

Basaseachic Falls is the tallest continual flow waterfall in the country and the 2nd tallest waterfall in Mexico. Basaseachic Falls National Park is featured in some travel tours and a very popular tourist attraction in Mexico, because of the great beauty of the falls.
Located just southwest of Mexico City is Cumbres del Ajusco National Park. With three mountain peaks exceeding twelve thousand feet in elevation, the park is known for its high snow dusted mountains.
Clearly visible from all parts of Mexico City, and due to its close proximity to Mexico City Cumbres del Ajusco National Park is popular with tourists who can eat at the restaurants and stay at the motels, hotels in the capital and take day tours to the park.

Full of gorgeous limestone cliffs, El Potrero Chico is a beautiful place. With rock climbers from around the world, it is a very popular tourist destination in Mexico. Potrero Chico is one of the top ten rock climbing destinations in the world and has exposed rock cliffs as high as two thousand feet.

About 2.5 hours from the Texas border at Laredo, Potrero Chico is located in northeastern Mexico in the state of Nuevo Leon in the town of Hidalgo. There are also many houses for rent and hotels in the area to accommodate visitors and tourists and camping is available around and in the park.
